A collage portrait of Michelle Obama created for an Art Fundamentals course at Northeastern University. Students were assigned to randomly apply black acrylic paint on paper using various household objects (paper towels, paperclips, etc.) then shred the paper. We were then asked to choose a person of note that is not a "celebrity" and to use the shredded pieces of paper to create a portrait of that person by gluing the shreds onto another sheet of paper.
